Mesa Multi-Generational Center MESA, ARIZONA Summer Community Band Registration

Dear Parents (or Adult Students): This is a great opportunity for your child (or you) to shake the dust off your band instrument, learn how to read music, play that instrument and be involved with other students in a fun summer activity. No prior musical training is required for beginning band. Instructor: Burgie Crandall, professional musician, band teacher 34 years, band leader. Beginning band classes meet for 50/55 minutes on Thursday Mornings, 9:30 to 10:30 am. Students will learn playing-introduction to proper embouchure formation, tone production and playing technique (note reading, chords, counting, all the basic skills), having fun and enjoying the group experience. Intermediate/Advanced Band classes meet for 50/55 minutes on Thursday Mornings 10:30 to 11:30 am. Emphasis will be on playing a lot of pieces, having fun and enjoying the group experience, more advanced playing techniques, unison playing in small or large groups, introduction to intermediate band literature, introduction of musical skills, music terminology, etc. When a student is ready, he or she may be invited to sit in at my regular Tuesday Afternoon 12 piece big band performance 1:30-4pm at the Center. Session #1 will be held Thursdays 9:30 to 10:30 am , June 5, 12, 19, 26. Session #2 will be held Thursdays 10:30 to 11:30 am, July 10, 17, 24, 31. The Mesa Multi-Generational Center Summer Community Band Program is for anyone over age 10.
